ESPN’s Mark Jones jokingly compared UFL game’s dropping over/under to his 401(k) after Donald Trump’s tariffs

Donald Trump's latest tariff announcement has sent a massive ripple effect on the United States' and the world's greater economy. Many economists have already said the impact of the president's tariffs will negatively impact lower-income households the most if they are upheld. But it seems pretty safe to assume that most everyone will be adversely hurt by these tariffs in some fashion if the reaction of the US's still-tumbling stock market is any indication.

This potentially grim reality is not lost on long-time ESPN announcer Mark Jones.

During a UFL game broadcast between the Houston Roughnecks and Arlington Renegades on Sunday, Jones talked to ESPN betting analyst Erin Dolan about the matchup's continually dropping over/under in the wake of a low-scoring affair. After Dolan shared her analysis, Jones jokingly compared the game's dropping over/under to his 401(k) — an unsubtle nod to an understandable reaction from Trump's tariffs.

Honestly, this was a pretty seamless way to work in this kind of joke.

Kudos to Jones for jumping on the joke opportunity and finding some levity in some uncertain times.
