Why is Jim Nantz at the Final Four but not calling the game?

Legendary CBS Sports broadcaster Jim Nantz was in San Antonio for Saturday night's 2025 men's Final Four game between his beloved Houston and Duke.

However, he was just there as a fan and not working the broadcast as he has in the past.

In case you forgot, Nantz actually retired from broadcasting the men's NCAA tournament in 2023. We're so used to hearing him in March Madness that it's always hard to remember he's stepped away until the games start.

While it's great to see Nantz at this year's tournament as he cheers on his Cougars, it is just a little bittersweet that he's just in the stands and not on the mic to call the game. Maybe he'll make a brief return one of these days?
