There's a lot of romantic places I could think of to live but my urban shack is paid for and that's gonna be as good as it gets for this old pothead. We're close to medical service, shopping, entertainment and I can afford to heat and cool it.

 

It would be paid for, and have central air and a pool. That's as far as my list of requirements has gotten so far!

 

It would be wooden not big, one floor studio house just one big space kinchen in one courner study in another, living space . And a place to sleeep in mid level close to the roof with no cieling, and built on heavy excavator shassy so that I can turn it to the sun or off the sun any time I like. depends in weather conditions. Big roof windows, with it s own water supply \artesian well\ and heated by old good wood. And no fuckin neighbour around 200 yard.

 

The older I get, the more I resent having to carry laundry up and down multiple flights of stairs, so I would build a house with a laundry room proximal to bedrooms. Really, there's no good reason not to have built them that way in the first place.
My perfect house would be built with a very large eat-in-kitchen, similar to the one in the house I grew up in, which was the epicenter of all our family and social gatherings.
My perfect house would be built on a lot where I have no close residential neighbors and could generate as much noise as I liked. If I decide I want to raise bloodhound puppies who bay at the moon all night I can!!
Perhaps I'd build it in the middle of a huge grove of orange trees, like the estate Dan Marino bought back in the '80s
My perfect house would have a connected 3-story parking garage which could accommodate up to 40 cars.
My perfect house would have a dormitory where my friends could sleep after drinking to excess and not risk driving drunk.
Of course, my perfect house has a bar-room with dart boards, pool tables, an indoor horseshoes pit, a stage for live music and bleachers situated in front of a big screen TV. The super bowl party will be at my perfect house!!

I like any type of non traditional housing. I used to think that it would be cool to live in an underground house or a straw bale house or an A frame or even a windmill or a lighthouse.

Has anyone here ever lived in one of these?

I never lived in one but stone houses seem kind of timeless.

I’ve had a house that wasn’t stone but it was 4-layer brick.

Ficxa isn’t far wrong in the sense that they hang on to ambient temps like a motherfucker. They don’t like swift changes in temperature at all.

It took forever to warm it in a cold snap, and cooling it in spring/summer was a chore, for sure. I had a spacepack put in in the attic to cool the upstairs; with the brick walls running HVAC ductwork was next to impossible without having to put bulkheads in everywhere.

Once you got it where you wanted it, though, it was easy to maintain.

It would be decorated with sexual sculptures and artwork. It would have an S & M room, a crossdressing room. Bathrooms with large walk in showers. Beds with handcuffs. Sex furniture in every room. And lots of bananas and peaches in the kitchen.

 

Bit of space, lots of trees, endless views. Fireplace would be nice as well. And a hot tub.

 

Maybe anything low maintenance that is sturdy with a great view of something you value?

That’s what I think most people want.

If you own it outright then that’s the best.

 

Underground

 

I love the idea of underground housing but in areas where earthquakes are not common.

Very energy efficient and plenty of room for a big greenhouse up above!

 

and a big savings on cost of windows.
