Although Brazil has advanced to the semifinals of the World Cup, the injury suffered by Neymar during the 2-1 win over Colombia has rattled the country. Defender Juan Camilo Zuniga left Neymar with a fractured vertebra after a hard challenge late in the second half, and the Brazilian superstar is expected to be out for 4-to-6 weeks.

Brazilian legend Ronaldo blasted Zuniga for the "highly violent" play, and even Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff said that her heart had been "injured" by the news.

In a statement released by the Colombian team, Zuniga apologized for the outcome and wished Neymar a speedy recovery.

"Although I feel the situation was normal in a game, there was no bad intention, malice or negligence on my part. I admire you, respect you and consider you one of the best players in the world. I hope you recover and return quickly. I send you (fans) a special message of thanks for all the support you showed to the Colombian team during every one of our games.”

Brazil plays Germany for a spot in the final on Tuesday.
